Joss Bay is Kent’s best known surfing beach and is home to the longest established surf school on this coast. As well as surf lessons there is surf hire and an associated shop in nearby Broadstairs. The beach is reputedly named after an eighteenth-century smuggler, Joss Snelling.

Great beach, ideal for families. The beach has no naturist area, unlike Botany Bay, but parking here is easy in a large carpark and there's a lot more room. The beach is popular with surfers and kite surfers when its windy. At low tide you can walk to Margate or Broadstais on the beach.
