Rowan Ayers (16 June 1922 – 5 January 2008) was a British television producer and executive. He was best known as producer of BBC's Line-Up and Late Night Line-Up in the 1960s. He was the originator of BBCs influential late night rock music show The Old Grey Whistle Test and the long-running Points of View.

The Old Grey Whistle Test (abreviado usualmente a Whistle Test o OGWT) fue un programa de televisión británico, donde se presentaban artistas y grupos de música rock. Bandas y músicos como Bob Marley and the Wailers, Billy Joel, Judas Priest, Wishbone Ash, Judee Sill, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd y New York Dolls aparecieron en el programa.

21 de sept. de 2014 · The Old Grey Whistle Test took over from Disco 2, which ran from September 1970 to July 1971. The programme was commissioned by Sir David Attenborough. The show was devised by producer Rowan Ayers, whose son was Kevin Ayers. The name was derived from a Tin Pan Alley phrase.
Rowan Ayers was born on 16 June 1922 in Goring-by-Sea, Worthing, West Sussex, England, UK. He was an editor and producer, known for The Young Doctors (1976), Up Sunday (1972) and Late Night Line-Up (1964). He died on 5 January 2008 in Noosa, Queensland, Australia.
