Trevor Ramsey Tomkins (12 May 1941 – 9 September 2022) was a British jazz drummer best known for his work in a number of British bands in the 1970s, including Gilgamesh. Biography. Tomkins was born in London and studied music at the Guildhall School of Music.

12 de abr. de 2023 · Drummer and percussionist Trevor Tomkins was of the previous generation of musicians who were the movers and shakers on the London scene. In 2023 still too recent to lionize, Tomkins' generation did much to break the prevailing perception of British jazz as an underwhelming reflection of its American parent.

When Trevor Tomkins entrusted his own recorded archive to Jazz in Britain in 2021, the year before his death, it was found to include the full unedited Highwayman gig (a previous issue cherry-picked its contents), in more than passable sound, thus enabling a full restoration process to begin, resulting in this new ‘complete’ album.”
