  1. Trevor Ramsey Tomkins (12 May 1941 – 9 September 2022) was a British jazz drummer best known for his work in a number of British bands in the 1970s, including Gilgamesh. Biography. Tomkins was born in London and studied music at the Guildhall School of Music.

In 2023 still too recent to lionize, Tomkins' generation did much to break the prevailing perception of British jazz as an underwhelming reflection of its American parent.
