  1. 31 de ago. de 2006 · Feb 23, 2022. #701. The Lover In Me and What Comes Naturally are two of my favorite Sheena albums, along with A Private Heaven. Of course I wish they would be included in this upcoming campaign for consistency sake, but I ended up grabbing the lame Cherry Red reissue of Lover and the Japanese edition of Naturally in the last year just because I ...

  2. 31 de ago. de 2006 · “A PRIVATE HEAVEN (DELUXE EDITION)” BY SHEENA EASTON Cherry Red Records began their Sheena Easton EMI catalog rollout at the end of 2020 with a definitive collection of all of her singles during her tenure at EMI (1980-1987). They now continue the campaign with the first of their Deluxe Editions of her albums.

  3. 31 de ago. de 2006 · I love Sheena Easton, my grandad knew her when she lived in Scotland and that's how I found out about her. I have most of her albums which seem fairly hard to obtain now. I agree about her representation, they are really unfriendly. Why have a Q&A section on the website if you can't be bothered giving more that a one sentence response?

  4. 31 de ago. de 2006 · The same ceremony in 1989 where Sheena performed The Lover In Me to great cheers, was the same ceremony where Whitney was infamously booed and jeered when her name was called out for a award. The following year and her next album, I'm Your Baby Tonight, notably saw a more Urban New Jack Swing sound.

Giving Up, Giving In is actually great in an "I want a Believe moment" kind of way. There’s some interesting background info on this album in the Ian Masterson ep of Steve Anderson’s podcast.

I remember being intrigued by the idea of the album when it was mentioned in Record Collector a few months before it came out. At the time, I don't really recall hearing 'Giving Up Giving In', the lead single or seeing the video.

  7. 31 de ago. de 2006 · If Whitney had sung it, would have been an top 10 hit too am sure. Indeed, Narada Michael Walden produced it and he produced the mega Whitney bops in the '80s so she probably would have made it a major hit. Too bad Sheena's missed the US Top 40. Such a bop, and I love the film from which it comes - About Last Night.

  8. 31 de ago. de 2006 · Speaking of Sheena, currently giving her 1987 album, No Sound But A Heart a proper go. Not a bad record overall, a bit too ballady and needs some more uptempos, but quite good. The production and songwriting team, is late 80s finest as well: Prince, Narada Michael Walden, Patrick Leonard, John Bettis, James Ingram, Keith Diamond.

  9. 31 de ago. de 2006 · Yes, unlike Olivia, the sexier look actually suited Sheena. It must have killed her being forced to wear spangly jumpsuits all those years. Much as Karen Carpenter was one of the biggest victims of 70s 'fashion', Sheena must be at the forefront for the following decade.
