The agency. In 1939, the married couple Hugo Lifczis and Annie R. Shermant fled Vienna because of the rise of Nazism. After settling in Buenos Aires, they founded International Editors’ Co. (IECO), the first Spanish-language co-agency.
International Editors' Co. (IECO) es una agencia literaria fundada en Buenos Aires (Argentina) en el 1939 por el Dr. Hugo Lifezis y Anna Sherman Lifezis.
La agencia representa autores en lengua española y catalana a nivel internacional. IECO cuenta también con un departamento de derechos de teatro, principalmente de autores alemanes.
Literary agency based in Barcelona since 1960, IECO represents publishers and foreign agencies and manages translation rights for Ediciones B. It also directly represents authors such as Augusto Monterroso, Ramón J. Sender, Àlex Rovira and Fernando Trías de Bes throughout the world.
