Sentenced was a Finnish gothic metal band that played melodic death metal in their early years. The band formed in 1989 in the town of Muhos and broke up in 2005. Started out as a pure death metal band, but during their first five years the band streamlined their musical approach, creating a combination of roughness, melody and rocking heavy metal with focus on strong songs rather than technical complexity.
