With this information, you can decide what type of effects you want to incorporate into your rig and what aspects of Vai’s tone you want to emulate.
27 de feb. de 2020 · Listen to almost any Steve Vai song and the odds are good that you’ll come across some wah pedal sections at some point. Wah plays a large part in defining Steve’s primary ‘voice’ on the guitar, so you can bet he’s specific about the one he uses!
28 de abr. de 2020 · Compressors have rarely been seen on Vai’s pedalboard for live shows, but in the studio he’s used compression quite extensively - perhaps most notably on his clean sounds which, combined with using the split pickup options on his guitar, have often sounded extremely glassy.
The pedalboard contains a Digitech Whammy pedal, a Custom Audio 16-channel switching unit, a BOSS CE-5 Chorus Ensemble pedal, a BOSS DS-1 Distortion pedal, a footswitch controlling chorus and distortion effects in the rack, and a hold switch for the delay.

13 de sept. de 2023 · Its output from the brain goes into the Little Lehle III A/B pedal on Vai’s pedalboard, which gets routed into his pedalboard and normal amplifier signal path. In other words, the 7-string runs through Steve’s rig just like his normal guitars.
