Controlled Bleeding was an experimental music group based in Massapequa, New York. The group was founded by Paul Lemos, the group's only consistent member. Most of Controlled Bleeding's released recordings feature two main collaborators, Chris Moriarty and vocalist Joe Papa, who both died in the late 2000s.
Controlled Bleeding. Paul Lemos co-founded Controlled Bleeding, an experimental band, in Boston circa 1978. Lemos moved back to Massapequa, New York, reformed the group and ultimately released the band's ear-shattering debut full-length, KNEES AND BONES in 1982. The record is considered one of the earliest recordings of American power electronics.
The current guitar-and-drums version of Controlled Bleeding plays instrumental rock songs influenced by Krautrock (notably Can) and progressive rock. On 11th February 2020, Paul Lemos announced via the official Controlled Bleeding Facebook page that the band is no more.
