Traditions, both old and new, are the fabric of the University Glee Club. The tradition of “the hand that shook the hand” connects us all back to our founding members of 1894. Whether it be performing in white tie and tails, commissioning new works, traveling together near and far, competing for the coveted Hambone Cup, or the singing of college songs, our traditions are foundational.
Entry QR Code. New York's University Club building was constructed at the turn-of-the-century and is home to a social club that dates back to the start of the Civil War. The building was designed by the architecture firm McKim, Mead, and White, and opened in 1899. The club first met in 1861 and formally received its charter four years later.
