Everett Hughes was an American sociologist who worked on ethnic relations, work and occupations, and fieldwork methodology. He also analyzed Nazi Germany and Quebec's industrialization, and had a humanistic and ecological approach to sociology.

Everett C. Hughes was elected by his peers to serve as the 53rd President of the American Sociological Association. His Presidential Address, entitled “Race Relations and the Sociological Imagination,” was delivered on August 28, 1963 at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Los Angeles.
