Origen y juventud. Heinz Alfred Kissinger nació en la ciudad bávara de Fürth, en ese entonces en la denominada República de Weimar en una familia de judíos alemanes. Su padre, Louis Kissinger (1887-1982), era un maestro de escuela; su madre, Paula Stern Kissinger (1901-1998), era ama de casa.
