  1. 28 de ene. de 2017 · Hi, I've come across a weird expression. It was "Lunch is about ready". Does it mean the same thing than "Lunch is about to be ready", or is there a difference? And is there a difference of the function of the word about in the two sentences? Thank you.

"Ready to go" describes the current state of this fellow's luggage. It is the correct way to write things. Compare it to something like: "He keeps his cabin luggage in the closet by his bed." No need for hyphens.

I would use the first without a doubt, but encountered the second variant with 'to" instead of 'for' and thought it was a misprint at first but then was told it had been written by an English-speaking person so I'm puzzled now.   6. 31 de oct. de 2018 · Oct 31, 2018. #2. The noun is "pickup". It sounds like "pick up", which is why that sounds natural. These are correct: Your car is ready for pickup. Your car is ready for (its) pickup (by you). Your car is ready to be picked up. Your car is ready for picking up.

  8. 5 de ene. de 2015 · JBP: Yes, I do see a difference between your two examples: - "Have the documents ready ..." suggests to me that John should ensure that the documents are ready by noon. It says nothing about who will prepare or produce the documents. - "Get the documents ready ..." suggests that John himself should prepare the documents in some way.

Por otra parte, el verbo va seguido de "ready to". Por ejemplo, "I'm ready to go." "He was ready to fight." Espero que te sirva.
