Especially sacred were those points where movements of waters joined like estuaries and river confluences.
The Vix Grave is a burial mound near the village of Vix in northern Burgundy. The broader site is a prehistoric Celtic complex from the Late Hallstatt and Early La Tène periods, consisting of a fortified settlement and several burial mounds.
Archaeological discoveries in the 1990s place the site among the most important early Celtic centres in Europe. It provides unprecedented evidence on Celtic burial, sculpture and monumental architecture.
22 de mar. de 2021 · Burials of rulers and elite individuals (both men and women) often have the deceased interred along with their personal possessions, weapons, armour, tools, eating utensils and paraphernalia for Celtic feasts, board games, extra clothing, foodstuffs, and precious objects like fine imported pottery or bronze vessel and gold jewellery.
Since the Otherworld is another world on its own, the Celts probably believed that in order for the dead to properly get there, they must be buried in the Earth. Such as Voyage of Bran, there are more tales of men being able to cross the barrier between the human world and the Otherworld.
