A few attacks from a minor Girros and you’re paralysed — a sitting duck for the Great Girros’ attacks. Fortunately, the little Girros is a coward.

For this reason it’s kind of okay that swing animations are slower than other games, as everything has a bit more weight to it, making battles feel like a more considered affair than most action titles. It can sometimes feel annoying when bosses effectively stunlock you.

We could go on all day with what we’d love to see crossed over into Monster Hunter World. So far the game has been great with character crossovers, and we’d love to see some monster crossovers as well.

The best thing you can do pre-battle is to use your Focus on R3 to scan the area and then tag any enemies you can see. Your Focus has the power to see through walls, has an impeccable range and is generally incredibly useful.
