More new Mass settings: Mass for Christian Unity. So far the only settings I've considered have been chant-like, viz. those of Richard Rice, Christopher Walker, Paul Ford, Andrew Mills, Proulx's own Gloria Simplex, and of course the ICEL settings. This is the first organ based setting with SATB harmonizations that has really caught my eye.
I believe Shorter Christian Prayer only has the propers for Holy Days and some other commonly celebrated feasts. 17 de sept. de 2024 · We do the Marian antiphon with the versicle and collect after the Last Gospel, during which there is music on most Sundays (when permitted, that is). Then there’s a hymn except for Palm Sunday most years. Andrew Mills writing in the American context of the new or renewed usage of the 1962 missal is the only way that I can square the claim.
11 de jun. de 2024 · Not a particularly seasonally relevant question, but I usually do a longer prelude for Christmas midnight Mass (5-10 minutes-ish) and I wanted to ask the hive mind for recommendations for pieces which could be suited for this. I've done several noels (haven't done the Daquin X yet, considering that), and last year I did Guilmant's "Le Creche".

The only two of the newer songs that comes close to being traditional is Fr. Schiavonne's 'Amen" and "Donde Hay Caridad y Amor" (used for Holy Thursday and for Communion). There are traditional hymns like "Altisimo Senor", "Tu Reinaras", "Alabado Sea El Santissimo" and "Cantemos al Amor" that do work well.
Starting my first schola soon. First of all: Any suggestions (general or specific) about that would be great (rehearsal procedure, warm-up routines, conducting tips, etc, etc- especially in how it is different than a "normal" choir).

It is mostly Latin, but it does have an English translation, and it does feature the chant melody in the middle section. Please enjoy!

Yes, another setting of the Anima Christi but in Spanish :) I was inspired to try my hand at writing in a different language just to change things up and to expand the choral repertoire for the Spanish language. This is only a first draft as I still need to add the accent marks and proofread.
