Billy Karaitiana aka Billy Kristian. Born Wiremu Aata Te Rangi-amoa Karaitiana in Christchurch, Billy plays bass guitar and piano, starting his career in 1958 with Max Merritt and The Meteors.

Billy Kristian played bass guitar for the Invaders; he later joined the Keil Isles, The Jimmy Sloggett Band, Headband and Night and produced Herbs' first full album Long Ago. Jimmy Hill, the drummer for the band, died on 7 November 2000 of a heart ailment at the age of 56.

Bill Kristian. NZ bassist and producer. From Christchurch, has played bass with a string of important NZ, Australian and UK acts from the 1950s onwards. Father of NZ bassist Darren Karaitiana (Nathan Haines and The Enforcers).
Billy Karaitiana also known as Billy Kristian was originally from Christchurch. He is probably New Zealand's best known bass player. He was a member of Ray Columbus and the Invaders, and when they broke up, he rejoined Max Merritt and the Meteors, where he had been before the Invaders.
