Soon after, they were joined by Simon Colley on clarinet and bass. John (then going by his first name Nigel) was the guitarist at this point. After a few gigs, including a performance at Barbarella's in Birmingham opening for the band Fashion , Duffy and Colley left the band in June 1979.

Simon joins her on stage and sings backing vocals on her encore performance of the David Bowie song “Suffragette City.” This is later released as a B-Side to one of her singles.

3 de mar. de 2005 · Rhodes, Taylor and friends Simon Colley and Stephen Duffy formed the band in 1978, playing the Birmingham bar circuit. Duffy and Colley left within a year, and drummer Roger Taylor joined. Eventually, the band settled on guitarist Andy Taylor and former punk rocker and drama student LeBon as the singer, in 1980.
